Jul 15, 2024

Kyiv [Ukraine], July 15: On July 14, Russia announced that it had taken control of another village in eastern Ukraine, marking a new step forward in the region.
"Units of the Vostok forces have taken control of the village of Urozhaine" in Donetsk, according to AFP, citing an update from the Russian Defense Ministry. Urozhaine is one of several Ukrainian villages that managed to be recaptured during the 2023 counteroffensive.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry also said that its Su-34 fighter jet had launched a FAB-3000 super glide bomb towards a target on Ukrainian territory, but did not mention which target.
Russia also released a video showing the bomb being dropped from a Su-34 fighter jet, before it spread its wings and glided away.
Earlier, a Russian military blogger shared a video that appeared to show the FAB-3000 glide bomb being used to attack the village of Lyptsi in Kharkiv province.
The blogger claims the video is the first to show a real-life attack by the FAB-3000 series of bombs, equipped with a universal planning and adjustment module (UMPK).
The FAB bomb equipped with UMPK will spread its wings after leaving the aircraft to continue moving to its destination thanks to the satellite positioning system on the device.
Meanwhile, the Kharkiv provincial police force said that Russian forces used FAB-1500 bombs to attack the Kupiansk district of this province on May 5.
Ireland prepares security deal with Ukraine
On the same day, July 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ireland is taking the first steps towards drafting a bilateral security agreement with the Kyiv government.
The announcement was made after a meeting between Mr. Zelensky and Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris at Shannon Airport (Ireland) the day before.
