Sri Lanka to launch climate justice forum at COP28

Colombo [Sri Lanka], August 7: Sri Lanka will launch a climate justice forum for the vulnerable and developing countries at the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the President's Media Division (PMD) said on Sunday.
Sri Lanka has proposed the establishment of the forum to ensure greater climate justice and accelerate the financing of loss and damage, and provide an alternative and non-traditional approach, said Minister of Environment NaseerAhamed.
COP28 will be held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, by the end of this year.
The PMD added that the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program, will host the fifth Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific from Oct. 3 to Oct. 6 in Colombo.
