Spanish police roll up cyber gang run by underage boss

Madrid [Spain], February 27: A cyber gang run by an underage boss that defrauded around 200 bank customers of a total of Euro350,000 ($370,000) in just two months has been rolled up, Spanish police reported on Sunday.
Apart from the youth ringleader, whose exact age was not divulged, police made a further 24 arrests in Barcelona, Malaga and Cadiz.
Searches at six premises yielded fake firearms, mobile phones, drugs and ?10,000 in cash, along with the bank details of around 100,000 customers of 18 financial institutions.
The gang stole the data with the aid of fraudulent emails, SMSs, WhatsApp messages and phone calls.
The young boss, who set up and ran the operation, not only devised the digital tools but sold them on to other criminal organizations. (dpa)
