South African airports ready for festive visitors

Johannesburg [South Africa], December 9: South Africa has revamped its airports and introduced technology to provide seamless services, and is ready to welcome tourists during the festive season, the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), which owns and operates the country's nine principal airports, said on Friday.
"ACSA is ready to handle the festive season effectively and that our carefully planned-out festive season strategy will position us well to deal with the increased passenger volumes and aircraft movements that characterize this period. Every traveler can look forward to a safe and comfortable journey through our airports," ACSA chief executive officer MpumiMpofu made the remarks when briefing the media about their readiness for the festive season.
By March 2023, the measure of air passenger traffic had increased by 52.4 percent year-on-year and reached 88 percent of March 2019 levels, according to Mpofu.
The latest official data showed that more than 2.64 million people entered and exited South Africa in October and holidays continued to be the main purpose of their visits to the country.
