Russian land attacked, Ukrainian capital hit by UAVs

Oct 30, 2024

Moscow [Russia], October 30: The Russian Defense Ministry announced yesterday that Russian air defense forces destroyed seven Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the night of October 28 and early morning of October 29, according to Sputnik News Agency.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that of the seven UAVs, six were shot down in the three provinces of Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk, all bordering Ukraine, and the remaining one was destroyed over the Black Sea.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials yesterday accused Russia of carrying out attacks on Ukraine's two largest cities, Kharkiv and Kyiv, on the night of October 28 and early morning of October 29, according to Reuters. Ukrainian officials made it clear that the bombing of Kharkiv's Osnovianskyi district killed at least four people and the drone attack on the capital Kyiv injured six people.
As the Russia-Ukraine conflict continues, South Korean lawmakers yesterday cited intelligence information that some senior military officers and soldiers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) deployed to Russia may be transferred to frontline areas, according to Reuters. The South Korean lawmakers made this assessment after NATO confirmed that Pyongyang had moved troops to Russia and some North Korean military units were deployed to Russia's Kursk province bordering Ukraine.
The US Department of Defense confirmed on October 28 that North Korea has sent 10,000 troops to eastern Russia for training, up from an estimate of 3,000 troops given on October 23. The Pentagon said Washington would not impose new restrictions on Ukraine's use of US-supplied weapons if North Korean troops entered the war.
Meanwhile, KCNA reported that a delegation led by North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui departed on October 28 for an official visit to Russia, without giving details.
