Russia will win Ukraine conflict if EU not mobilises all capabilities: Borrell

Dec 25, 2023

Moscow [Russia], December 25: Russia will win the Ukraine conflict if the European Union does not change its course and mobilise all its capabilities, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Sunday.
"And if we don't change course rapidly, if we don't mobilise all our capacities, it will let [Russian President Vladimir] Putin win the war in Ukraine," Borrell told The Guardian.
In his interview with the newspaper, the top EU diplomat called Russia a "great power" allegedly threatening European democracy. "The important thing is what we can do in order to avoid Russia winning the war. What are we ready to do? Are we really ready to do everything it takes? This is the question that we have to put ourselves," Borrell was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
Western countries, including member states of the European Union, have been providing military and financial aid to Kiev since the start of Russia's military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.The Kremlin has consistently warned against continued arms deliveries to Kiev, saying it would lead to further escalation of the conflict.
In April 2022, Russia sent a diplomatic note to all NATO countries on the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russian strikes.
