President Putin wants Russia to have its own space station by 2027

Oct 27, 2023

Moscow [Russia], October 27: Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the first part of the country's new space station should be operational by 2027.
At a meeting with space technology industry officials on October 26, Mr. Putin set the goal of putting the first part of the Russian space station into orbit by 2027.
According to President Putin, Moscow's decision to extend the deadline to join the International Space Station (ISS) until 2028 is only a temporary solution. The ISS has now been in operation for 25 years and has recently had some problems with the Russian module.
"Because the resources of the ISS are gradually running out, we not only need to put a part of the station into space, but the entire station needs to be put into operation," TASS quoted President Putin as saying .
The leader said that the development of the Russian space station needs to be implemented on schedule, to avoid the risk of Russia falling behind in its ability to launch flights to send astronauts into space.
At the same time, Mr. Putin affirmed that Russia must continue to promote the moon program after Moscow failed to send a lander to the earth's natural satellite in August.
For his part, Mr. Yuri Borisov, head of the Russian Federal Space Agency ( Roscosmos ), supports President Putin's view on the need to promote the program to build a separate space station to maintain deployment capacity. missions with astronauts from this country.
"The ISS is aging and will be decommissioned around 2030," Mr. Borisov also predicted.
