Feb 12, 2024

Ulan Bator [Mongolia], February 12: Mongolia's National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring on Sunday issued a warning of snow, blizzards and strong winds that will affect large parts of the country.
Starting Sunday night, heavy snow and snow storms will hit western, central and eastern provinces of the country, with an average wind speed estimated at 18-24 meters per second, causing poor road visibility, the weather monitoring agency said, adding that the volatile weather is expected to continue in the next few days.
The agency warned the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters.
Almost all provinces of Mongolia have experienced harsh weather conditions this winter, and over 90 percent of the country has been blanketed by snow, according to the agency.
Over 10 people, mostly nomadic herders, lost their lives in the central province of Tuv and the eastern province of Sukhbaatar due to heavy snow and snow storms this winter.
The Asian country's climate is strongly continental, with long, frigid winters and short, warm summers.
