Israeli forces strike near Gaza hospital

Tel Aviv [Israel], September 1: Israeli forces launched an air strike near al-Ahli Arab Hospital (Baptist Hospital) in Gaza City on Saturday.
The Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza reported that three people have been killed and dozens injured in the Israeli strike in the vicinity of the al-Ahli Arab Hospital.
Footage obtained by Al Jazeera reveals the chaos following an Israeli air strike near al-Ahli Arab Hospital in northern Gaza City. The attack caused widespread panic with people screaming and scrambling for safety.
Among the wounded are a toddler and another child, both of whom were being treated at the hospital, as bystanders and family members stood by anxiously. Hundreds of people were killed at the Gaza City hospital in October after an Israeli air strike.
The Palestinian Health Ministry condemned the Israeli strike on the hospital compound.
The ministry issued a statement in which it said it "condemns the repeated attack" on al-Ahli Arab Hospital (Baptist Hospital) in Gaza City. It said Israeli forces targeted "the hospital grounds this [Saturday] evening, which resulted in many martyrs and injuries among patients' relatives and visitors to the hospital".
"The Ministry also appeals to all international and UN bodies and organizations to protect hospitals and medical staff from the brutality of the occupation and its crimes against health institutions and staff in the Gaza Strip," the statement read.
Israeli strikes killed at least 61 people in the Gaza Strip with the death toll expected to rise, Palestinian health authorities said, including the attack on al-Ahli Arab Hospital in the north's largest city.
An Israeli missile hit a convoy carrying medical supplies and fuel to an Emirati hospital in the Gaza Strip, killing several people from a local transport company, the American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera) group has said.
Israel claimed without immediate evidence that it opened fire after gunmen seized the convoy. The strike killed several people employed by a transportation company that the aid group was using to bring supplies to the Emirates Red Crescent Hospital in Rafah, Sandra Rasheed, Anera's director for the Palestinian territory, said on Friday.
The strike happened Thursday on Salah al-Din Street in the Gaza Strip and hit the convoy's first vehicle.
"The convoy, which was coordinated by Anera and approved by Israeli authorities, included an Anera employee who was fortunately unharmed," Rasheed said in a statement cited by The Associated Press news agency.
"Despite this devastating incident, our understanding is that the remaining vehicles in the convoy were able to continue and successfully deliver the aid to the hospital. We are urgently seeking further details about what happened."
In a later statement, Anera said four Palestinians were killed in the strike.
It identified the dead as "four community members with experience in previous missions and engagement in community security".
