Israel intercepts Houthi missile, takes down Hezbollah UAV commander

Tel Aviv [Israel], September 27: The Israeli military said on September 27 that it had intercepted a missile fired from Yemen. Sirens and explosions were heard in central Israel early on September 27, according to Reuters.
The surface-to-surface missile was intercepted by the Arrow missile defense system outside Israeli territory. The Israeli military stressed that its defense guidelines have not changed.
Houthi forces claimed to have launched dozens of rockets towards the Israeli town of Safed on September 26 in response to Israel's attack on Lebanon.
Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi said on television the same day that he would not hesitate to support Lebanon and Hezbollah .
Since November 2023, the Houthis have carried out numerous attacks targeting shipping lanes in the Red Sea to show solidarity with Palestinians in the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In July, the Houthis launched a drone toward the Israeli city of Tel Aviv for the first time, killing one person and injuring four others. In response, Israel launched airstrikes on a series of Houthi military targets near the port of Hodeidah in Yemen, killing six people and injuring 80.
In September, the Houthis launched a missile towards central Israel but the missile was also intercepted in the air.
Regarding the Israel- Hezbollah conflict , on September 26, the Israeli army attacked the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut, killing Hezbollah's UAV unit commander Mohammed Srur.
Mr. Srur, born in 1973, studied mathematics and was a senior advisor sent by Hezbollah to Yemen to train the Houthis, according to AFP. This is the fourth attack in the past week targeting Hezbollah commanders in a densely populated area.
Lebanese media reported that three rockets were fired at an apartment in a 10-story building. The Lebanese Health Ministry said two people were killed and 15 injured in the airstrike.
