Apr 23, 2025

Athens [Greece], April 23: Greece's economy is expected to maintain moderate growth over the next two years, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasting gross domestic product (GDP) expansion of 2 percent in 2025 and 1.8 percent in 2026, according to local media reports on Tuesday.
In its latest World Economic Outlook report, the IMF also projects that inflation in Greece will continue to ease, falling to 2.4 percent in 2025 and further to 2.1 percent by 2026.
However, the country's current account deficit is forecast to remain high, reaching 6.5 percent of GDP in 2025 and 5.9 percent in 2026. Unemployment is expected to persist at relatively elevated levels, with the rate projected at 9.4 percent in 2025 and 9 percent the following year.
The IMF has revised down its growth forecast for the broader Eurozone. It now anticipates economic growth of 0.8 percent in 2025 and 1.2 percent in 2026, representing a downward revision of 0.2 percentage points from earlier estimates
