Nov 19, 2024

Belgrade [Serbia], November 19: A woman who was severely injured in the collapse of a train station roof in the Serbian city of Novi Sad more than two weeks ago has died, a hospital official said on Sunday, bringing the total number of lives lost to 15.
On November 1, the outdoor canopy of Novi Sad's main railway station collapsed, burying dozens of people underneath. Two other critically injured individuals remain in life-threatening condition at hospital.
The authorities have not provided a conclusive explanation for the cause of the catastrophe which left residents of the northern city shaken. The prosecutor's office in Novi Sad summoned more than 70 individuals for questioning but has not arrested anyone so far.
Critics of President Aleksandar Vucic's government say they fear a culture of corruption could result in no one being held responsible. (DPA)
