Oct 18, 2024

Tehran [Iran] /Islamabad [Pakistan], October 18: The Taliban government in Kabul is demanding clarification after an unconfirmed report said that dozens of Afghans had been killed by Iranian guards on the border between the two countries.
A delegation has been appointed to investigate the incident, wrote deputy government spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat on social media platform X on Thursday.
The investigating team, he said, has been "working relentlessly" since it began its work on Wednesday.
The incident was first reported by a small Iranian website that focuses primarily on the human rights situation in the border province of Sistan and Baluchistan.
The portal Haalvsch, citing two eyewitnesses, said that Iranian border guards had killed around 260 Afghans in the incident, which is said to have taken place on Sunday. (dpa)
